The training partnership between Lee Freedman and Graeme Rogerson has been officially approved with last start winner Mossamine set to be their first runner at Rosehill on Saturday.

Racing NSW received notification from the Australian Turf Club on Wednesday that the partnership had suitable stabling arrangements with the club, which was the final piece to the union being given the green light.

Freedman, a member of the Australian racing Hall Of Fame, said it was full steam ahead for the new partnership.

“I’m enjoying it. We’re having to build the stable up again from low numbers but it’s coming together well and we’re getting new horses every week, so that’s making it a very interesting job,” Freedman said.

Freedman and Rogerson currently have about 24 horses in work at Randwick but have a lot of yearlings being broken in that will soon join the team.

“I would say by the end of June into July we’ll be up around the 40 mark,” Freedman said.

Mossamine is entered for Saturday’s Co-Ordinated Landscapes Handicap (1500m) on the back of a last start win at Canterbury but has drawn barrier 15 of 15.

Freedman flagged the possibility that Mossamine could yet be saved for another day.

“I’m not really that fussed on his extreme outside draw. I’ll have to have a look at the field and decide whether to run him,” Freedman said.

“I’ve got him in at Canterbury again next Wednesday so I’ll just see what I think is the best option.

“We’ve got quite a few horses entered for next week.”

Racing NSW’s deputy chief steward Greg Rudolph confirmed the partnership had been approved on Wednesday.

“We received official notification from the ATC that the partnership has approval to stable and train at Randwick which was the last condition that Racing NSW required before granting the partnership,” Rudolph said.

“The first runner will be at Rosehill on Saturday.”
